The TGV is a linear pendant light fitting system based on 1200 mm and 1500 mm modules. It has been developed as an office luminaire to provide lighting for open and cellular offices as well as meeting areas. The client requested a luminaire that would fit with the interior design concept which accentuates thin silver lines. Functionally the lighting had to provide at least 300 lux at table level in meeting rooms and sufficient ambient lighting in offices where new task lighting is being used.
The design consists of a new linear aluminium extrusion profile that supports the electronic control gear and T5 fluorescent lamps. Its elegance derives from the proportion of the extrusion being the same diameter as a T5 and the relationship of the lamp, lamp holders, suspensions rods and control gear. The aluminium suspension rods have a diameter of only 8 mm which leaves sufficient space for the electrical and control wiring. We have reduced the required quantity of control gears by placing a twin unit centred between two lamps, and whose form has a dynamic shape that follows the dimension and shape of the ballast itself. Flexibility in luminaire length is almost unlimited by working on the basis of the individual module sizes.
Self-contained LED emergency lighting is provided in the form of a butterfly-shaped accessory. The luminaire is very energy-efficient by providing more than 400 lux illuminance at table level in relation to moderate wattages. The high quality of lighting is based on a combination of even distribution of direct light combined with reflections from the illuminated ceilings.
