Izé invited us to design a range of ironmongery.
One of their established marketing strategies is to engage well-known designers to produce individual designs. We explored the potential to design a fuller range than most designers with the intention to use them in a specific project.
The range was developed from an investigation of tactile qualities and we used our rapid prototyping facilities to help deliver mock ups for assessment. We chose stainless steel since the first destination for the products would be an office using linear elements of shot-peened stainless steel as the leitmotif. The shot-peening provides a soft feel. The products include a range of door levers and fixed handles with escutcheon plates, cabinet pull handles and coat hooks.
They were installed in the North House project
